Long Term Care

Is an insurance plan that pays for nursing facility care, home health care, respite care and/or hospice care for people who are chronically ill.

Long-term care policies cover various levels of care. Provides funds when the insured is unable to perform activities by themselves such as:

  • Use the bathroom or shower
  • Climb out of bed
  • Get dressed
  • Eat breakfast

Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Severe Stroke and Cancer are just some examples of illness that can necessitate Long Term Care.

  • Long Term Care is not limited to the sick or elderly.
  • Maybe be required as part of your recovery from an accident or disability.
  • Soon eldercare will replace childcare as the number one concern of working women and men.

Over 4 million Canadians are currently engaged in informal care giving. This group spends in excess of $5 Billion annually in care related expenses.

Long Term Care is considered Custodial Care (care that does not require specialized training or services), not Medical Care, and is not fully covered by provincial health care systems.
